The O.G. Sugar Cookie (Recipe)

We’re feeling that Christmas-In-July feeling today (July 9th) because it’s National Sugar Cookie Day all across America.

According to popular sources, the original Sugar Cookie comes from not far away at all in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. And while we’re based in Northeast Ohio in Youngstown, the crew at Alexander Construction, Inc. doesn’t need much of a reason to GET MORE sweet treats … And If you’re reading this, we assume you’d agree!

The Original Nazareth, Pennsylvania Sugar Cookie

Ingredients:

3 1/2 cups flour

2 eggs

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup sugar

1 cup butter

1 tablespoon vanilla

1 cup buttermilk

Directions:

1. Make sure your kitchen is Built By Alexander Construction, Inc.!

2. If you're out of the ingredients for Step 1, call 330-799-5577 TODAY, and order the kitchen of your dreams. Our team will provide the rest. Then continue to Step 3.

3. Preheat oven to 375

4. In a bowl, sift in flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

5. In another bowl, cream together the sugar and the butter.

6. Add eggs one-at-a-time, and beat.

7. Add vanilla. Continue to beat.

8. Stir the flour mixture into the buttermilk and sugar mixture til smooth.

9. Drop by tablespoons or a small scoop (1 tlsp capacity) onto the prepared cookie sheet.

10. Sprinkle additional granulated sugar on the tops of the cookies because you deserve to GET MORE!

11. Bake for 7-10 minutes or until firm.

12. After a moment or two, remove your cookies from the sheet, and cool on a rack. Sample your hard work while you call Alexander Construction, Inc. to let us know how it turned out!
